New Every Morning

Lamentations 3:
22. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end;
23. they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.

Each dawn has its own message. Some are silvered in their quiet, others are lively and spattered with fresh clouds. Some speak of a storm to come. Others – such as this one – declare the day triumphant over a tempest that passed in the night.

When Lamentations was written it was to mourn over the destruction of Jerusalem.

Authorship is generally applied to the prophet Jeremiah, and the writings are part of the Megilloth, the 5 scrolls, read and recognised by the Jewish people.

There are 5 chapters, each one a poetic composition, and the 3 verses above form the perfect center of the book. Not just technically, but in their superb statement that is the turning point between desolation and understanding, despair and hope, devastation and the promise of a future.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness

To look on a dawn is to be reassured and to know beyond any doubt that we can hope in Him.
